Jewel setters are small plastic rods with a sticky bud one end and a point the other. You pick up the rhinestone faceted side up with the sticky bud place it onto the adhesive and use the pointed end for any fine positioning.
The third type of rhinestone is un-foiled which is perfect for mounting in a setting where both the top and bottom of the crystal can bee seen. Without the silver foil backing un-foiled rhinestones don't have quite the same level of sparkle as those with a backing. They do however look dazzling when the light shines through the crystal giving them a similar appearance as a diamond which is why they are so widely used.
